Ehsan Baharlou contributes a chapter to Vivre avec / Living with, the official catalogue of the French Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia, published by Flammarion (2025). Edited by Dominique Jakob, Brendan MacFarlane, Martin Duplantier, and Éric Daniel-Lacombe, the volume is organized around six thematic sections — the existing, the immediate, the broken, vulnerabilities, nature, and combined intelligences — exploring architecture’s capacity to respond to the challenges of climate change, conflict, and instability. Baharlou’s chapter, “Ecologically Active Structure,” appears within the section on nature. Presented within the French Pavilion’s broader exploration of living with the existing, the vulnerable, and the natural world, it positions architecture as an interface rather than an object, advancing a vision of construction that is regenerative, locally grounded, and responsive, and proposing collective intelligence as a critical framework for future ecological building practices. Each section of the catalogue presents architectural projects selected through an open call for proposals, alongside projects by the pavilion’s curatorial architects, bringing together work from across practice, research, and academia.
